What Other people thought about the trip

Jill Vogel
Our family's New York trip was amazing for me.  I had planned the whole trip so that my parents could join us also.  My mom is from New York and hadn't been back to see her family in a long time.  I felt it was important for her to do this because everyone is getting older.  Catching up with my cousins, aunts, and uncles that I haven't seen in years and enjoying family time was what made the trip.  I loved Leah getting our room ready for a "party" each evening before dinner and walking the streets and seeing the sights with Ben, Leah, Dave, my mom and dad.  I loved being in Carnegie Hall watching Nick sing.  The moment that will always be engrained in my memory was standing in Times Square at night with my mom, holding hands, bearing the cold and just watching the lights.  The only thing that could've made it better is if I saw Nick more than on stage at Carnegie Hall.  Family time is so important to me and we are so busy at home.  I love vacations because I get to be with my kids and we are all so relaxed.  Looking forward to another awesome getaway with my wonderful family!

New York was a fun trip.  My favorite part was on Long Island with all of my cousins.  We were going to go to a restaurant for Johanna's birthday, but the wait was too long.  Instead, we picked up awesome Italian food on the way back to their house and ate dinner there.  We made one really long dining room table and put white table cloths and candles everywhere on it.  Everyone was talking and laughing at the same time.  That was a special night.

I thought the trip was great!  I have to admit when Ben's mom told me about the trip and we figured out how expensive it was to fly, I was a little stressed.  However, once we got there and saw family and the New York City sights, it was all worth it.  My favorite part outside of family was the NewYork style pizza.  It was awesome and you can't get pizza like that anywhere here in Louisville!

I thought the trip was cool.  My favorite part of the trip was being able to walk around New York with my buds. It was expensive. Singing in Carnegie Hall was dope.  I saw a broaday show called American Idiot.  That was the best show ever. Besides having food poisoning, New York was great.  I hope to go back sometime soon.

Geography of New York

New York is one of the fifty states of the U.S.  It is locatated northeast of Kentucky and has approxemitly 19,378,102 people living in it.  It corrordnates are 43 degreese north and 75 degreese west.
The capital of New York Is New York City.  It is located on Long Island.  One famous land mark is The Statue of Liberty.  It is also on Long Island.  The Appalchian Mts. run through New York too.

What I Thought About It

I thought the trip was fantastic.  Everything was great.  My favorite thing was going to the Carnegie Hall Center to watch my brother sing.  It was fun staying with my grandparents and cousins on Long Island.  I wish that I could have stayed there longer than five days but I had to get back to school.  One thing that I wish I could have done was going up in the World Trade Center.  From past years of experince it was really fun to do that but insted we went in The Rock (witch is the sencond tallest building in New York).  Overall I think it was a great trip and would be gland to do it again.

The Empire State Building.

Going Back

After the consert we went to the air port to head home. To get to the airport we had to take a train.  It was along ride but, it was fun.  Nick did not go with us on the plane ride because he was with his school.  On the plane ride I found out that Nick got food piosining from a restrunt in China Town.  I heard that he took Nyquil to fall asleep but, then he threw it all up.
Our last glimce of New York

Day 4

This is our last day at New York.  When  I woke up today we had breakfast at the hotel.  After that we went to the Carnegie Hall Center.  Its was great there.  We watched my brother and the Baldard Choir sing.  One of the songs they sung was a song called Pergolesi.  That was my favorite because it reminded me of the western times.

The Carnegie Hall Center is so big and butifully

People can sit multiple stories in it to.

The Old Time New York

Day 3

When we woke up this morning we ate breakfast at the hotel.  After that we went to the Rockefeller Center.  When we were there we decided to go ice skating. Even though I fell a few times I still had a great time.

Here I am in front of the iceskating rink.
Leah is not the best skater

After skating we went to a building called The Top of the Rock. Leah did not want to go so she stayed at the hotel.  On the Rock building you had a great view of the entire New York City.
   This is Saint Patrick's Cathedral.
After that we took the subway to the hotel and had pizza.
Once we got the we decided to go and see ground zero.
That brought back bad memorise but, I found out that they are
building another World Trade Center. They are only going to build one
though.  They are going to use the rest of the area to make a visitor center.
Where the two buildings once were, there will be a hole in the ground.
There will also be a waterfall going into the hole with trees all around it.

People say New York people are very mean.  I think the are very nice though.  When my dad and I were getting off the subway a person came by and said " Are you looking for train M."  We said no because we were coming off of the subway but he was very nice.

New York

Day 2
Early in the morning we took and train ride to Penn Station.  Then we walk 20 blocks to the hotel.  After checking in we went to a restaurant called Ben Ash.  It had great deli sandwiches and knish.

Getting on the train.

After lunch we went to times square and went to an em en ems store.  It is basically a big gift shop.  In there we enjoyed the m-m store and bought some m-m's.

Me with an m-m!

After the m-m store we walked to get Broadway tickets.  The tickets belonged to a play called The Perfect Crime.  I thought it was a great play and actors but, the storyline wasn't great.
After the play we ate at a pizza place that was really good.  Then we went back to the hotel and had some dessert.  At the hotel we also watched movies.  Over all I thought today was a great day.

First Day on Long Island

Today was our first full day on Long Island.  We are staying with my mother's cousin and her family.  The houses are pretty cool and they are rich in architectural features.  This morning my grandparents came over and we all walked to a real New York diner for breakfast.  On the way my dad and I were commenting on all of the different houses.  Babylon's latitude is 40.69 degrees and -73.32 degrees longitude.

One of the houses in Babylon, New York.

Some of my relatives waiting for our table at the diner.  I had pancakes and they were very good.

Later that day, a bunch of us went to an aeronautical museum.  It is amazing how much activity took place on Long Island in the early days of flight.  There were a lot of companies that were started here and were important to the development of flight in the United States.  My favorite part was a flight simulator where you had to land a World War II fighter plane on an aircraft carrier.  I crashed a lot but landed safely on my fourth try.

Here I am at the Museum sitting in a small helicopter.

World War II troop transport plane.

A model showing how the early airplanes were made.  They used a lot of wood and metal cables in these early planes.  Before we left the museum we saw an IMAX movie which turned out to be an info-mercial on the new Boeing 787.  It was ok but my dad got dizzy and my mom and grandma fell asleep.

We had a great italian dinner tonight and right now we are watching the Big East championship game.  Got to go!  Go Cards!!!

Leaving Louisville this morning... our flight was delayed due to repairs.

Finally on the plane!

Now we are in New York but where do we go?

Now we are at Penn Station to catch the train to Long Island.  What a bummer!  The Cards are playing right next door tonight at Madison Square Gardens!!!  I wish we could stay!  Good luck Cards!

Man am I hungry!  New York Pizza is the best!

YUM

Waiting on the train.  Everyone is watching this big screen to see what track the train will be on.  When the track info came up, about 200 people swarmed like ants toward the train!!

Packing for the Trip

I'm so excited for the trip, and I'm almost done packing.  My family and I will be leaving tomorrow and will get back Tuesday.  We will be flying on U.S. Air and we will be staying with my Great Aunt Lora and her husband Ron.  Unfortunately, my brother Nick won't be staying with us because he is going with the Ballard High School Choir.  They will be singing in Carnegie Hall, which we will attend.
